Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball player Sofia Rodriguez reached a career milestone in Friday night's 3-0 loss to West Chester University, recording the 1,000th assist of her career as a Griffin.
Rodriguez becomes just the sixth player in program history to record 1,000 career assists and the second fastest to do so, reaching the milestone in 124 sets played (Griffins' all-time leader Mia Caporellie reached the mark in 120 sets). The senior setter entered the third set of the match needing just six assists to reach the milestone and hit the mark on the Griffins' next to last point of the night, setting up a kill by Alex Crespin.
The Griffins fall to 3-5 overall while the Golden Rams improve to 5-5. West Chester completed the 3-0 sweep via scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-17.
Rodriguez recorded a double-double on the night, adding ten digs to her 22 assists. Crespin led the team with eight kills while Macayla Lindner added six. Sarah Allen and Parys Boykin had two aces apiece.
Defensively Rachel Mace led the team with 20 digs on the night joining Rodriguez in double figures. Katelyn Dougherty chipped in eight digs. Micah McKenzie had CHC's only block of the evening.
For the game, the Golden Rams recorded 42 kills to the Griffins' 28 and had a hitting percentage of .237 (42-14-118) (CHC hit .088(28-18-113)). Chestnut Hill had a narrow edge I aces, 5-4, while West Chester out dug the Griffins 58-54.
The women's volleyball team returns to action on Sunday September 13, 2026 when they compete in a tri-match at Kutztown University, taking on the host Bears along with Caldwell University. The first match tips off at  1:00 p.m.
