The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team braved a delay caused by rain and a slow start but remained undefeated, beating East Stroudsburg University 4-3 Thursday afternoon at the CHC Tennis Courts.
The Griffins improve to 3-0 on the season while the Warriors fall to 0-1
Chestnut Hill had a slow start to the match once it began following rain during warm-ups and waiting for the courts to dry out. The warriors took two of the three doubles contests to earn the doubles point. Chestnut Hill's #3 doubles team of Tia Kaukenas and Milica Zagorac were the home teams' only doubles victors, defeating Audrey Conover and Stella Kammandel 6-0.
Fabienne Lahn evened the match at 1-1, defeated Kammandel 6-0, 6-1 at #6 singles before Veronika Lundgren put the Griffins ahead, 2-1 in the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jenna Kastell at #3 singles.
Elena Arenas Guisasola fell at #2 singles 6-4, 6-4 to even the match at 2-2 before Zagorac put the Griffins ahead, this time for good, with a 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) win at #1 singles over Lea Stefanovic.  Lilian Bandel then clinched the match for Chestnut Hill with the team's fourth point, producing a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win over Elessa Jacobs at #4 singles.
The women's tennis team returns to action tomorrow as they host Saint Thomas Aquinas College for their third conference contest of the season. First serve at the CHC Tennis Courts is set for 3:00 p.m.
