The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team got back on the winning track Monday afternoon as they defeated Kutztown University 7-0 at KU's Keystone Courts in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 5-1 on the season while the Bears fall to 0-2.
The doubles team of Milica Zagorac and Tia Kaukenas started a sweep of the three doubles contests with a 6-0 win over Maddie Gilbert and Gabbie Gentile at #3 doubles. Elena Arenas Guisasola and Lilian Bandel followed with a 6-1 win over Anastassiya Kim and Isabela de Nadai at #1 doubles and Veronika Lundgren and Fabienne Lahn completed the sweep with a 6-2 win over Myah Marturano and Anna Fisicaro at #2 doubles.
Lahn gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead in the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ashleyn Phy at #6 singles and Kaukenas followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gentile at #5 singles to make the score 3-0.
Bandel then clinched the match win for the Griffins with the team's third consecutive 6-1, 6-0 victory, defeating Gilbert at #4 singles.
Lundgren added a 6-2, 6-2 win over de Nadai at #2 singles and Arenas Guisasola had a 6-3, 6-0 win over Marturano at #3 singles. Zagorac completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Kim at #1 singles.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, September 23 when they face regional powerhouse and new conference opponent queens College at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
