Covic Earns CACC Honor Roll Recognition With Play at ITA East Regional Championships
New Haven, Conn. - (9/18/2019) – Senior Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia) was named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll after her play at last weekend’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championships. Covic suffered an 8-4 loss in the Singles Qualifying Bracket, but teamed with freshman Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain) for an 8-5 victory in the Women’s Doubles Bracket to earn the honor.
Chestnut Hill College traveled to the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, on Friday, September 13, for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championships. In the Women’s Doubles Bracket, Covic and Arguelles defeated a Dominican College duo consisting of junior Paula Gutierrez (Bogota, Columbia) and freshman Isha Mbaye (New Orleans, La.) by an 8-5 measure. But exited the tournament in the following round, after an 8-3 loss to the Adelphi University duo of freshman Julia Kielan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and sophomore Barbie Quagliardi (Istanbul, Turkey).
Covic lost her first match in the Singles Qualifying Bracket to Le Moyne College freshman Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador), 8-4.
