Banks Scores CACC Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week Award with Play Versus Redhawks and Eagles

New Haven, Conn. - (10/15/2019) – Totaling 17 saves in a pair of losses to Roberts Wesleyan College (L, 0-1 on October 10) and Post University (L, 0-2 on October 12), junior Paris Banks (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Tennis Goalkeeper of the Week award. Banks started both contests and recorded double digit saves in a third straight contest with her 10 stops in the Griffins’ 1-0 loss to the Redhawks on October 10.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, October 8, Chestnut Hill College (2-9, 0-6) visited the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) (3-3-2). The Bears welcomed the Griffins with four goals in the opening 20 minutes (2:56, 9:49, 17:27, 19:34) before eventually marking a 7-0 victory. Junior midfielder Marisa Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded the lone Scarlet and Gold shot, sending a strike wide of the NYIT goal midway through the 65th minute (64:30).

On Thursday, October 10, Chestnut Hill College dropped a non-conference clash at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium, falling to Roberts Wesleyan College (6-2-1) by a 1-0 margin. The Redhawks capitalized on a late first-half goal to push the Griffins' winless streak to seven. Banks (0-3) started for the fourth time in the last five games and recorded 10 saves in her 90-minute effort.

Chestnut Hill College visited Post University (5-3-2, 5-1-0) on Saturday, October 12, for a late-morning CACC contest. The Eagles controlled most of the action, outshooting the Griffins 19-4 in pursuit of a 2-0 league win. The Scarlet and Gold’s shot were split one apiece between sophomore forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.), senior forward Geena DiRugeris (Woodbury, N.J.), freshman forward Riley Regan (Philadelphia, Pa.) and senior forward Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.). Banks (0-4) made seven saves in a losing effort for Chestnut Hill College.
