Bruhn Earns Second CACC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Award
New Haven, Conn. - (10/15/2019) – Senior defenseman Paris Bruhn (Horst Holstein, Germany) returned to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Soccer Weekly Report, garnering the league’s Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time this season. Bruhn helped the Griffins to a 0-1-1 week that included a 0-0, double-overtime tie with the defending league champions, Post University on Saturday, October 12.
Chestnut Hill College (3-5-2, 2-3-1) visited Mercy College (9-1-1) for this Tuesday afternoon's contest. The Mavericks controlled play and made efficient use of a 21-4 shot advantage as they retired the Griffins by a 7-0 end. Senior forward Santiago Corral (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was the star for Mercy College, totaling seven points with three goals and an assist. Meanwhile, freshman forward Luciano Torres (Tucuman, Argentina) headlined a lean stat sheet for the Scarlet and Gold with a pair of shots.
The Griffins engaged Post University (6-1-3, 4-0-2) in 110:00 minutes of highly competitive CACC on Saturday afternoon as the Griffins and Eagles battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie. Both sides saw opportunities to put the ball in the net, but neither succeeded; senior goalkeeper Frank Maniscalco (Philadelphia, Pa.) kept a clean sheet for the Scarlet and Gold with eight saves. On offense, senior midfielder Pedro Dutra (Passos, Brazil) recorded seven of the Griffins’ 15 shots.
