Byxbee Earns First CACC Women’s Volleyball Honor Roll Appearance of the Season

New Haven, Conn. - (10/21/2019) – Senior outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) made her first Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll appearance of the season with her play during the Griffins’ 1-1 week of CACC competition versus the University of the Sciences (USciences, W, 3-1; 25-16, 25-20, 21-25, 25-12) and Bloomfield College (L, 0-3; 21-25, 25-27, 23-25). Byxbee hit .294 (14K-4E-34TA) and provided 20.5 points during the week with 14 kills, four aces, and five block assists.
 
Chestnut Hill College (9-10, 6-5) got back in the win column on Wednesday night with a four-set victory over USciences (7-11, 4-4). The Griffins - sporting pink uniforms for their annual Dig Pink game benefiting the Side-Out Foundation - used a .278 (44K-14E-108TA) hitting percentage to take the CACC prize and return to .500 on the season. Sophomore right side Lauren Lipinski (Gilbert, Ariz.) matched her season-high with 10 kills to lead the Griffins' offense. Freshman setter Henielys Ramos (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) recorded a double-double with match-highs in assists (21) and digs (16). The Griffins also served seven aces against the Devils. Senior right side Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.), who ranked second on the team assists (13) and digs (8), also led the Griffins in aces with three. Byxbee finished the affair with nine kills, an ace, six digs, and a pair of block assists.
 
Junior outside hitter Corrine Kalala (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) hit .355 (16K-5E-31TA) to score 16 kills in just three sets, but Chestnut Hill College had trouble gaining the edge on Bloomfield College during Saturday’s three-set loss. Senior outside hitter Danielle Quintanar (El Paso, Texas) led Bloomfield College with a match-high 25.0 points; 21 kills, three aces, and a pair of block assists. Kalala provided three digs in excess of her 16-point effort. Ramos also totaled double digit points for Chestnut Hill College with eight kills and two aces. She additionally recorded 19 assists and eight digs, while Callahan contributed one kill, 10 assists, four digs, and three block assists. Byxbee offered five kills, an assist, three aces, 11 digs, and three block assists to the Scarlet and Gold’s performance.
