Pizarro Listed as Honorable Mention On CACC Weekly Report
New Haven, Conn. – (10/1/2012) – Junior forward Kaelyn Pizarro (Berlin, N.J.) returned to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Report with her second honorable mention for the league’s Player of the Week award. Pizarro led Chestnut Hill College in a 1-1 week of CACC play with three goals and an assist. She totaled three points (a goal and an assist) in a 4-3 loss at Georgian Court University on Tuesday, September 25, before scoring twice in the Griffins 3-0 win over Bloomfield College on Saturday, September 29.
On Tuesday, September 25, Pizarro tied Chestnut Hill College (4-6, 4-2) with Georgian Court University, 2-2, just after halftime and later assisted junior midfielder Carly DiGiovanni (Seaville, N.J.) on the Griffins third goal of a 4-3 loss to the Lions. The Griffins were able to split their CACC contests for the week with Saturday’s, September 29, 3-0 victory over Bloomfield College. The Griffins held an 11-4 shot advantage and a 4-0 corner kick edge over the Deacons by pressuring the ball early. They were able to break the Deacon defenses on a centering pass by DiGiovanni, who found Pizarro for a drive to the back of the net at 13:10, 1-0. The Griffins added to their lead in the second half at 63:57, 2-0, only for Pizarro to break away in the 81st minute (80:26) for another second-half insurance goal, 3-0.
Pizarro currently ranks second on the team for goals (4), assists (4), and points (12), while tying DiGiovanni for the team lead in shots. Her assist total of four ties her for third in the CACC.
The women's soccer team breaks from CACC schedule to visit Dowling College for a 4:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday, October 2.
