Duddy Draws ECC Honor Roll Mention For Play versus Pioneers
Central Islip, N.Y. - (5/8/2013) – With three-points and eight ground balls in Chestnut Hill College’s 17-5 loss to #5 Long Island (LIU) Post University, senior midfielder
Michael Duddy (Toms River, N.J.) earned mention on this week’s East Coast Conference (ECC) Honor Roll. Duddy book-ended a Pioneer goal with two unassisted tallies, striking at 3:14 and 0:21 of the first quarter to help the Griffins keep the contest competitive heading to the second frame.
Unfortunately, despite Duddy’s first-quarter determination, LIU Post University (11-2, 7-0) eventually came away with a 17-5 victory. The Pioneers looked to remain perfect in league play by scoring the contest's first five goals before Duddy provided Chestnut Hill College’s (7-6, 4-3) answer. After scoring at 13:34, 1-0, the Pioneers found their stride around the eight-minute mark (8:27) when they scored four goals in a four-minute span that left their advantage at 5-0 with less than five minutes remaining (4:47). Fortunately, Duddy book-ended the next Pioneer goal, 6-1 (0:54), allowing the Griffins to keep close heading to the second frame, 6-2. But the Pioneers kept the pressure on in that following period, extending their lead to eight by halftime, 11-3, before slowing to a 17-5 final.
Duddy finishes the season as the Griffins fifth leading scorer with 21 points on 15 goals and six assists. He has additionally recovered 26 ground balls and caused two turnovers. The Griffins finished 2013 at 7-6 overall and 4-3 in league play.
