New Haven, Conn. – (3/15/2021) – Senior attack Carson Rees (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia), graduate faceoff Zachary Ornstein (Howell, N.J.), junior goalkeeper Jake Miller (Castle Rock, Colo.), and freshman attack Jackson Melnick (Milford, Pa.) were the features of this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Lacrosse Report as the Griffins respectively swept the league’s Player, Defensive Player, Goalkeeper, and Rookie of the Week awards. Rees returned to 2019 form in Chestnut Hill College’s 18-8 win over St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) on March 9 – 6 goals, 2 assists, 3 ground balls – and provided a six-point performance (3 goals, 3 assists) in Saturday’s (March 13) 13-9 victory at Molloy College. Miller earned the win (2-1) in both Scarlet and Gold victories with 22 saves and five ground balls. Melnick collected his second straight CACC Rookie of the Week award with 10 points (4 goal, 6 assists), two ground balls, and a caused turnover, while Ornstein won 39-of-44 (.886) faceoffs and recovered 28 ground balls en route to his first CACC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Chestnut Hill College put themselves back on even ground on Tuesday, March 9, earning their first win of the season with an 18-8 victory over STAC. (2 goals, 6 assists) each totaled eight points for the Scarlet and Gold, while Melnick filled in the gaps with 2 goals, 2 assists, and a ground ball. Ornstein kept the Griffin offense in possession of the ball by dominating the faceoff circle (17-of-21, .810) and Miller anchored the Scarlet and Gold defense with seven saves, a pair of ground balls, and a caused turnover in 42:48 minutes of play.
