Faraglia Named CACC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
New Haven, Conn. - (4/5/2021) – Senior defender Angela Faraglia (Clifton Heights, Pa.) earned rights to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week award with her two ground balls and a caused turnover in Chestnut Hill College’s recent 17-3 league loss to Thomas Jefferson University (March 30).
Chestnut Hill College (0-3, 0-1) and Jefferson (3-0, 1-0) opened their CACC season with Tuesday’s afternoon affair. The Rams owned a 30-1 shot advantage and a 14-0 lead at halftime. The Griffins opened the second half scoring as senior midfielder Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) found sophomore midfielder Frances Vassallo (Hicksville, N.Y.) for her first collegiate goal at 21:04, 14-1. But Jefferson controlled the clock the rest of the way in a 17-3 final.
Fanfarillo scored one of the other two Chestnut Hill College goals on a free position restart (16-2, 12:28); she also recorded one draw and three ground balls. The last Scarlet and Gold tally was scored by sophomore midfielder Madyson Schwartz (Philadelphia, Pa.) (17-3, 4:02), who also provided a draw and four ground balls. Sophomore goalkeeper Mel Amador (Cape May, N.J.) played an inspired game in the losing effort (0-3) as she recorded 17 saves and six ground balls in the affair.
Chestnut Hill College returns to action on Saturday, April 10, when they host Felician University in a 11:00 a.m. CACC contest.
