Schwartz Scores Appears on CACC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll After Seven-Goal Week

New Haven, Conn. - (4/19/2021) – Sophomore midfielder Madyson Schwartz (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored seven of the Griffins' 12 goals in a 0-3 week of league play that included contest versus Holy Family University (L, 5-15 on April 12), Wilmington University (L, 3-21 on April 14), and Post University (L, 4-15 on April 17). Chestnut Hill College’s week ended with Schwartz scoring all four of the Scarlet and Gold's goals in a 15-4 loss to Post University; doing so on seven shots and while recovering four draw controls. Her tireless effort earned her an appearance on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll.

Breaking from an extended layoff, Chestnut Hill College (0-6, 0-4) welcomed Holy Family University to Victory Field #1 for Monday night’s CACC contest. The Tigers controlled the early action, establishing a 5-0 advantage before senior midfielder Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) scored the first of her two goals on a free position shot (5-1, 20:52). Unfortunately, the Scarlet and Gold tally was not enough to slow Holy Family University in a 15-5 conclusion. Schwartz helped Fanfarillo lead Chestnut Hill College, complimenting her second-half score (12-3, 21:06) with two ground balls, four draws, and a caused turnover.

CACC play continued on Wednesday night as Chestnut Hill College visited Wilmington University for an afternoon contest. The Wildcats controlled the affair from the opening draw as they scored on 13 of their 14 first-half shots and held the Griffins scoreless until sophomore Frances Vassallo (Hicksville, N.Y.) completed a pass from sophomore midfielder Danielle Vassallo (Hicksville, N.Y.) with 26:23 remaining in the contest, 14-1. Unfortunately, the tally the Vassallo connection was one of three Griffin goals in a 21-3 final. Schwartz scored her two goals on a team-high four shots. She also corralled a draw for Chestnut Hill College.

Schwartz scored the first goal (1-0, 25:26) of Saturday’s CACC contest versus Post University and scored back-to-back tallies (15:21, 14:55) to keep the contest tied midway through the opening period, 3-3 (14:55). Unfortunately, the Eagles closed the first half with a 6-1 run; 9-4, and finished off the Griffins with a 6-0 second half, 15-4. Schwartz scored all four of the Scarlet and Gold’s goals; doing so on seven shots and while recovering four draw controls.

Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Tuesday, April 20, when they visit Georgian Court University for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
