Sixth Shutout Secures Jackson’s Fifth CACC Weekly Report Recognition

James Jackson (Sewell, N.J.) made his fifth appearance on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Men’s Soccer Report, earning his third Honor Roll mention with five saves in the Griffins 2-0 shutout of Philadelphia University on Wednesday, October 30. The shutout was the sixth for Jackson who finished the 2013 regular season second in the league in save percentage (.862), third in goals-against-average (0.92 GAA), tied for third in shutouts (6), fourth in saves (94), and fifth in goals against (15).
Philadelphia University (9-7-1, 7-4-1) offered the first shot of the affair, but soon after play remained in the midfield. Chestnut Hill College (7-9-2, 6-5-1) was able to generate the most momentum in the give-and-take with freshman defenseman
Nils Fussen (Aachen, Germany) splitting the Ram defense and shooting unsuccessfully before being targeted for a successful strike at 26:14 on the rebound touch pass from junior forward
Juan Amaya (Cartagena, Colombia), 1-0. The Rams responded immediately, but both retaliatory attempts met Jackson and the Griffin defense which held off the Rams to a 1-0 halftime advantage. Following intermission, the home pressure continued to frustrate the Rams and eventually resulted in a defensive misplay that came just 40 seconds into the period; courtesy of junior forward
Channing Couillard (Jacksonville, Fla.), 2-0. With the advantage in hand, the Griffins contained the Rams for the remainder of the clock to close the 2013 season on a high note.
The men's soccer team concluded the 201 regular season at 7-9-2 overall with Jackson owning a 7-9-1 record in his rookie campaign.
