CACC Recognizes Raia and Koehler For Roles in Wins over Clippers

New Haven, Conn. – (3/24/2014) – Providing major contributions to Chestnut Hill College’s 100th baseball victory, junior pitcher Dominic Raia III (Philadelphia, Pa.) and junior shortstop Preston Koehler (Bath, Pa.) were recognized on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Report. Raia was a Honor Roll mention while Koehler collected the league’s Player of the Week award.

In the first game of Saturday’s, March 22, doubleheader with Concordia College (NY), Raia earned his second win with nine strikeouts while Koehler offered a 3-for-4, six-runs-batted-in (RBI) performance. Raia got all the run support he needed from Koehler, who hit a second-inning grand slam and a fourth-inning two run homerun to give Chestnut Hill College (5-7, 2-0) a 6-0 lead after four innings with the Clippers. The Griffins added a run in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth inning before the Clippers added four late runs in a 12-4 final. Raia failed to allow an earned run over his 7.2 innings of work; 7H, 2R, 0ER, 2BB, 9K, extending his current scoreless streak to 16.2 innings. Koehler was 1-for-4 with a run in game two.

The baseball team continues CACC schedule on Wednesday, March 26, when they visit the University of the Sciences (USciences) for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
