Looby Homers against Warriors To Earn CACC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition New Haven, Conn. – (4/24/2014) – Sophomore left fielder
Brendan Looby (Sewell, N.J.) hit .353 (6-for-17) with a homerun, five runs-batted-in (RBI), and five runs scored in a 2-3 week against Lincoln University, Briarcliffe College, and Nyack College to earn a mention on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Honor Roll.
Looby opened Chestnut Hill College’s (17-15, 12-6) week of competition with a second-inning sacrifice fly and a fourth-inning, two-run single bringing home three Griffins in a 17-0 win over Lincoln University. He also recorded a hit in both games against Briarcliffe College (17-14) and ignited a five-run first inning in the Griffins 10-2 game-two triumph against Nyack College.
Seeking revenge from a 13-2 game-one loss, senior second baseman
Mark Woltemate (Philadelphia, Pa.) led-off the second game with a single. After a sacrifice, Looby's homerun gave the Griffins a 2-0 first-inning lead. The Griffins scored three more times in the frame, 5-0, and took advantage of numerous Warrior errors over the next eight frames to outscore the home team 5-2 for an eight-run CACC victory, 10-2.
The baseball team concludes their CACC schedule on Saturday, April 26, when they visit Post University for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
