Double-Doubles Draw CACC Recognition For Parriski and Turner

New Haven, Conn. - (2/16/2015) – Putting up some power numbers during last week’s 1-1 run versus Central Atlantic College Conference (CACC) rivals, Philadelphia University and Post University, freshman forward Nicole Parriski (Burlington, N.J.) and senior forward Tiffany Turner (Marlton, N.J.) were respectively recognized with the league’s Rookie of the Week award and a Honor Roll mention. Parriski averaged 14.5 points-per-game (PPG) and 8.5 rebounds-per-game (RPG), including a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double in the Griffins 73-68 loss to Post University, while Turner averaged 20.0 PPG and 15.5 RPG with a pair of double-double performances.

The Chestnut Hill College women's basketball team made sure Tuesday night's CACC clash with intra-city rival Philadelphia University was one to remember. Behind a school-record shooting performance (33-of-57, 58.9%) and the all-around prowess of Turner, the Griffins jumped out to a big lead and withstood several late pushes to secure an 82-73 verdict and their first-ever victory over the Lady Rams. Turner enjoyed career highs of 26 points and 17 rebounds as Chestnut Hill College snapped a 17-game skid in the series and avenged an 80-49 rout at the hands of Philadelphia University earlier in the season behind a 46-26 advantage in the paint. With the victory, Chestnut Hill College equaled a school record with six CACC wins, set last year.

Turner's dominant performance came on an 11-of-14 (78.6%) line from the field. Her 17 rebounds were the most by a Griffin in a single game since Andrea Carter matched that total during the 2006-2007 campaign, and Turner also contributed three assists, two steals, and a block. She had plenty of support in senior guard Shayla Felder (Cheltenham, Pa.) (20 points, three assists, two steals), Parriski (12 points, four rebounds), and senior guard Tenisha Townsend-Mobley (Pleasantville, N.J.), who stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Looking to build on its first-ever victory against the Lady Rams, the Griffins welcomed Post University to Sorgenti Arena for a CACC tilt on Saturday afternoon. Despite trailing 50-44 with 11:46 to play, the visiting Eagles slowly forged ahead and managed to hold off the Griffins for a 73-68 verdict, snapping an eight-game skid and denying the hosts a third consecutive victory. Turner, 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Parriski, 16 points and 13 rebounds, each collected double-doubles in defeat.

Parriski was the only Griffin to have much luck shooting; the rookie went 7-for-8 (87.5%) from the field and made both of her free throws to notch a career high in scoring. The double-double was the second of the season for Parriski, who reached double figures in points for the third straight contest. Turner collected six offensive boards to help her to her ninth double-double of the year.

The Griffins go for a program-best seventh CACC win on Tuesday, February 17, at Georgian Court University. Tip is set for 6:00 p.m.
