Shcherbakova Selected for CACC Honorable Mention
New Haven, CT – (10/18/2010) – Helping the Chestnut Hill College women’s tennis team to the program’s first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament, sophomore Nastia Shcherbakova (Minsk, Belarus) was recognized with an honorable mention for the league’s Player of the Week award.
Chestnut Hill College (8-5, 5-3) hosted Georgian Court University on October 13 for their final regular season match of the fall. Shcherbakova defeated junior Hilary Gall (Ewing, NJ) at number one singles 6-0, 6-1, leading the Griffins to a 5-4 victory over the Lions. She also teamed with freshman Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, OH) for an 8-2 win at number one doubles. Shcherbakova is 11-2 at number one singles and 12-1 at number one doubles this season.
The women’s tennis team will compete at #1 Concordia College (NY) in the Opening Round of the CACC Championship Tournament. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
