Biro Tops Griffin Trio On CACC Weekly Report

New Haven, Conn. - (9/28/2015) – Totaling 41 kills and providing the power in a crucial 3-1 final (25-23, 26-24, 20-25, 25-19) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Wilmington University on Tuesday, September 23, senior outside hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) split the league’s Player of the Week honors with the Wildcat junior outside hitter Allison Briley (Monroeville, Pa.), who recorded 20 kills and 22 digs in the loss to the Griffins. Junior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) and freshman setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) joined Biro on the report as Honor Roll selections.

On Tuesday, Get Real With Teal Night turned out to be extra special for Chestnut Hill College, who earned a significant CACC win over Wilmington University with an inspired team effort. Biro showed the Griffins the way with a career-best 19 kills on a .405 hitting percentage (19K-2E-42TA) against a program that has earned at least a share of the last three CACC South Division titles. She hustled her way to a career-high 10 digs for her first double-double and added three block assists for 20.5 points. Sutton handed out 51 assists, matching the second-highest single-game total in Griffin National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II history while Trabosh made 18 digs in addition to two aces and two assists.

Chestnut Hill College doubled up on their Saturday competition, first squaring off versus Bloomfield College in a CACC match before opposing Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU). The Griffins suffered a league loss, their first of the season, to the Bears who stayed just a step ahead through three sets, 3-0 (18-25, 23-25, 23-25) before triumphing over SCSU, 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-22). Biro recorded 12 versus the Bears and ten against the Owls to lead the Griffins with 22 kills and leave her two shy of 1,000 kills. Sutton accumulated 59 assists (25 vs. BC and 34 vs. SCSU) in the two-game set at Bloomfield College, she also totaled four kills, four aces, 14 digs, and two blocks. Trabosh made 23 digs against the Bears and 25 against the Owls.

The women's volleyball team returns to Sorgenti Arena on Tuesday, March 29, to host Pace University in a 7:00 p.m. match.
