Dambach Tabbed As ECC Player of the Week

Central Islip, N.Y. – (4/26/2016) – After a 17-9 victory over Georgian Court University and a 12-5 triumph over Post University, junior attack Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) earned his first East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week award of this season. The Griffins’ playmaker recorded a season-high seven points (five goals and two assists) against the Lions before providing his fourth straight game of five points or more with a hat trick and two assists in Saturday's victory over Post University.

After the third quarter, Chestnut Hill College had a commanding 17-4 lead over Georgian Court University. Even with five Lions goals in the fourth quarter, the unfazed Griffins were able to hang on for a 17-9 victory. Sophomore attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) recorded career-highs in goals (6), assists (4), and points (10), while fellow attack, Dambach recorded a season-high seven points (five goals and two assists). The Griffins held a 57-38 shot advantage, forced 27 turnovers, and were a flawless 20-for-20 (1.000) on clears. Klusaritz added a groundball and a caused turnover to his career night while Dambach added a caused turnover and a team-high five groundballs to his seven-point effort.

Despite a 13-4 first-quarter shot advantage for Post University (6-7), Chestnut Hill College (5-6) was the only team to score in the first quarter. Sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Pedrick (New Milford, N.J.) kept the goal safe with five saves in the period, meanwhile Dambach assisted sophomore midfielder Joshua Pope (Schnecksville, Pa.) for the game's first goal at 8:51, 1-0. Klusaritz connected with Dambach roughly 45 seconds (11:16) into the second quarter to push the Griffins ahead 2-0, before the Eagles' first tally came ten minutes before halftime, 2-1 (9:55). As play approached the five minute mark of the Griffins scored twice, Dambach was involved in the first one at 5:40, providing an assist to junior attack Justin Albarran (Freehold, N.J.) (3-1) while the latter came unassisted at 5:14 from the cross of Andrew Dooley (Monroe Township, N.J.), 4-1. But the Eagles cut the margin again at 2:46, leaving the halftime margin at two, 4-2. In the third quarter, the Scarlet and Gold continued to trade runs for solo Eagle scores. By the end of the frame it was 9-4 and after a 3-1 fourth quarter, Chestnut Hill College was the victor in a 12-5 final.

The men's lacrosse team returns to ECC play at Victory Field #1 on Tuesday, April 26, with a 4:00 p.m. contest against the University of the District of Columbia.
