Magee Named CACC Player of the Week

New Haven, Conn. – (4/11/2017) – Sophomore right fielder Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week for her performance in a 4-4 week for the Griffins. She batted .481 with 13 hits, two doubles, four home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored. She registered a .516 on-base percentage, a 1.000 slugging percentage, six extra base hits, two walks, and one stolen base.

In the opening doubleheader of the week, senior Briannen Holloway (Corona, Calif.) held Nyack College to just four hits, Magee and junior designated player Jessica Pulis (Baldwin, N.Y.) hit home runs to power Chestnut Hill College to a 4-0 victory in the first game of the CACC doubleheader at Nyack College. The Warriors earned a split win a 7-4 win in game two, using a five-run fourth inning to overcome a second Magee long ball that brought home two Griffins in the third inning.

Magee provided two homers, five runs batted in (RBI) and three runs scored to lead the Chestnut Hill College softball team to a CACC doubleheader sweep of Holy Family University on April 5. The Griffins walked-off in game one - on a Magee sacrifice fly - with a 2-1 victory before staging a late rally to secure an 8-7 win in the nightcap.

Chestnut Hill College visited Caldwell University for a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contests April 8, with home side emerging victorious on both ends, overcoming the Griffins in finals of 9-2 and 3-2. Sophomores, Magee (3-for-7) and third baseman Lily Winn (Los Angeles, Calif.) (3-for-6) both recorded three hits in the twin bill; sophomore Nichole Eberhard (Philadelphia, Pa.) (0-4) kept the Griffins close in game two, holding the Cougars to three runs on three runs on three hits and three walks over 4.2 innings of work.

The Griffins wrapped up the week with Holloway being nearly untouchable in the opener of the CACC doubleheader at Dominican College, where Chestnut Hill College split league wins with the Lady Chargers, 3-0 and 0-8 (5). She earned her fifth win (5-8) of the season, allowing only two hits and a walk while striking out two in the complete game effort.  Magee helped provide the offense with three hits (3-for-4) and two runs. Unfortunately, the roles reversed in game two as the Lady Chargers limited the Scarlet and Gold to just three hits in an 8-0, five-inning final.
