Fuchs Garners Third October CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week Award

West Point, N.Y. - (10/31/2017) – For the third time in the month of October, sophomore kicker Dante Fuchs (Sinking Spring, Pa.) was named the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Special Teams Player of the Week. Surpassing his single-game high for points in a game, Fuchs converted eight extra point opportunities in Chestnut Hill College’s historical 56-14 triumph at Post University on Saturday, October 28.

Chestnut Hill College dominated every facet of the affair, producing a pair of 100-yard rushers in a 342-yard ground game, receiving three touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Michael Marino (Blue Bell, Pa.), and totaling seven sacks in a solid defensive effort against the Eagles. Fuchs helped with his eight extra points and by providing great field position with 47 yards on a pair of punts (23.5 yards/punt), and 532 yards on nine kickoffs (59.1 yards/kickoff); five of which resulted in touchbacks.

Sophomore Sef Penson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior Raevon Floyd-Bennett (Union City, N.J.) both rushed for over 100 yards; the former totaled 164 yards and scored once on 17 carries (9.6 yards/carry), while the latter gained 114 yards and scored his touchdown on 19 carries (5.9 yards/carry). Marino totaled 129 yards passing on an 8-for-17 (47.1%) effort. Sophomore wide receiver Joe Lee (Horsham, Pa.) led the Griffins in receptions with four (32 yards, 8.0 yards/carry), while junior wide receiver Reggie Robinson Jr. (Washington, DC) totaled a team-high 79 yards on two catches (39.5 yards/carry). Senior defensive lineman Josean Perez (Bethlehem, Pa.) led the Scarlet and Gold defense with seven tackles and a half sack. The Griffins set a program record for highest single-game point total for the second week in a row and evened their CSFL record at 3-3 with the win.

The Chestnut Hill College sprint football team returns to A.A. Garthwaite Stadium on Friday, November 3, when they conclude their 2017 season with a 7:00 p.m. CSFL Senior Day game opposite Franklin Pierce University.
