Sebold’s Co-Rookie Honor Headline Griffin Trio On CACC Women’s Basketball Weekly Report

New Haven, Conn. - (2/19/2018) – For the third time this season, Chestnut Hill College placed three student-athletes on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Report as freshman guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) shared her sixth CACC Rookie of the Week award with Felician University freshman Bionca Chambers (New Milford, N.J.), while senior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.) and sophomore forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) were both placed on the league’s Honor Roll.

Sebold averaged 16.5 points-per-game (PPG) and 5.5 rebounds-per-game (RPG), while totaling nine assists, a block, and a steal in 2-0 week that included league wins over Wilmington University (91-84, OT) and Felician University (103-66). She finished the week 9-of-18 (.500) from the field and 14-of-15 (.933) from the free throw line. Tumasz averaged 19.5 PPG and 3.5 RPG, while totaling five assists and seven steals. She was 13-of-29 (.448) from the floor, 7-of-16 (.438) from three point range, and 6-of-9 (.667) at the foul line in the process. Lastly, Glenn averaged 17.0 PPG and 8.0 RPG, while recording three assists, a block, and a steal. She was 9-of-20 (.450) from the floor, 6-of-9 (.667) from three, and 10-of-12 (.833) from the line.

Wilmington University made Chestnut Hill College (17-9, 13-4) go the extra frame to collect Tuesday evening’s milestone prize as the Scarlet and Gold’s 91-84 overtime victory over the Wildcats achieved an all-time CACC season-high for wins (12) and matched the program’s highest single-season win total since joining the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II in 2007-2008. Tumasz led six Griffins in double figures with 22 points and was one of three to hit at least three, three point baskets (3-of-9, .333) in the affair, but junior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) made the game-tying free throws at the end of regulation and the go-ahead basket in overtime. Tumasz added four rebounds, three assists, and four steals to her team-high 22 points. Glenn finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and a block, while Sebold came off the Griffin bench for 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and a block.

The Scarlet and Gold defense suffocated Felician University for a decisive 103-66 CACC score on Saturday afternoon. Chestnut Hill College held the Golden Falcons to a 31.7% (26-of-82) shooting performance and just ten free throws (8-of-10, .800), while forcing 24 turnovers in the process. Glenn led five Griffins in double figures with 20 points on a 6-of-10 (.600) field goal effort that included three (3-of-4, .750), three point baskets and was accompanied by a 5-of-6 (.833) free throw showing. She also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, dished out three assists, and made two steals in her fourth game of 20 points or more this season. Tumasz was the Griffins’ second highest scorer with 17 points. She also totaled three rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Sebold and fellow freshman guard, Rachel Millan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) scored 16 points apiece off the Chestnut Hill College bench. Sebold also recorded four rebounds, five assists, and a steal, while Millan added two rebounds and a steal to the breakout performance of her freshman year.
