Chestnut Hill College Athletics

New Haven, CT – (9/7/2011) – Sophomore midfielder Carly DiGiovanni (Seaville, NJ) netted two goals in Chestnut Hill College’s victory over Lock Haven University, earning her an honorable mention in the week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) release. DiGiovanni broke a 1-1 halftime tie and netted a second-half penalty shot to help the Griffins to their first win of the season.

 

Chestnut Hill College (1-2) added to their advantage early in the second half with DiGiovanni’s first goal coming off a deflected a cross from sophomore midfielder Steph Litty (Marlton, NJ) at 50:03. Lack Haven University made one last push and closed the gap to 2-1, but the spark was extinguished less than ten minutes later (67:13) with DiGiovanni beat the Lady Eagle goal keeper on a penalty kick opportunity. Thanks to DiGiovanni’s second-half scores, the Griffins concluded their weekend road trip with a 3-1 victory.

 

The women’s soccer team will open CACC play when they welcome Nyack College to campus on Saturday, September 10, for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
