Wildgoose Collects Fifth CACC Weekly Honor Roll Appearance
New Haven, Conn. – (2/4/2019) – For the fifth time this season, senior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Franklin Township, N.J.) has earned herself a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll as the Griffin captain averaged 14.0 points per game (PPG) and 11.0 rebounds per game (RPG) in a 1-1 week of league play that included a 79-74 victory over CACC South Division rival, Goldey-Beacom College on January 30
In their first meeting, Goldey-Beacom College used their home court advantage to escape Chestnut Hill College (6-13, 4-7) in a 71-66 final. This time around, the Griffins came out on top, serving their CACC South Division rival a 79-74 loss. Aiding in the triumph was a 21-point performance from freshman guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.), who went 5-of-7 (.714) from the three point line and grabbed a pair of clutch rebounds to ensure a Scarlet and Gold victory. Sophomore guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) and junior forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished in double figures as well; the latter offered a season-high 16 points and complimented Crim's perimeter success with four, three point baskets (4-of-6) of her own. Senior guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) and Wildgoose helped Chestnut Hill College extend their position in the second half, which reached 14 points three times in the frame; 49-35 (6:54), 51-37 (5:38), and 58-44 (0:49), before freshman guard Abbey Spratt (Downingtown, Pa.) closed the third quarter with an end-to-end rush, 60-44 (0:12). The Scarlet and Gold maintained a comfortable position until the latter minutes of the fourth quarter, where the Lightning reduced the deficit to single digits, 68-59, by 2:52 and cut the difference to just three points, 71-68 (1:06), heading to the final minute. There, Sebold served as the Scarlet and Gold savior, providing Griffins some breathing room with four late free throws (0:21, 0:19). Wildgoose finished just one point shy of another double-double, posting nine points and 12 rebounds.
Chestnut Hill College controlled majority of Saturday’s CACC contest against Post University, but a fourth quarter push earned the Eagles an 80-75 upset. The Griffins shot 40.0% (28-of-70) from the field with Wildgoose leading the way with her seventh double-double effort of the season; 19 points, 10 rebounds. Wildgoose's double-double was accompanied by three assist. Sebold and Glenn both finished in double figures as well with 17 and 10 points, respectively.
