Bethel Win Over Golden Falcons Garners CACC Honor Roll Recognition
New Haven, Conn. – (3/25/2019) – Sophomore pitcher Billy Bethel (Yardley, Pa.) appeared on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Honor Roll after limiting Felician University to one run on nine hits and a walk in a 3-1 game-one final on Wednesday, March 20. He struck out seven Golden Falcons and earned his first win of the season.
In the opener, both Chestnut Hill College (6-10, 1-3) and Felician University plated a first-inning run, 1-1. The Griffins broke the stalemate in the fifth inning with a leadoff single from freshman designated hitter Dutch Reardon (Lafayette Hill, Pa.), a pair of Felician University errors, a fielder’s choice off the bat of sophomore right fielder Sam Barletta (Royersford, Pa.), 2-1, and a run-scoring single from sophomore centerfielder John Contoudis (Jenkintown, Pa.), 3-1. Bethel and the Griffin defense took care of the rest, working through nine Golden Falcon hits and a walk. Sophomore Will Shaffer (Sicklerville, N.J.) covered the final inning (1IP, 1H, 1K) and earned his first collegiate save (1).
