Pitchley Earns CACC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition With Doubles Win Versus Clippers
New Haven, Conn. – (4/3/2019) – Freshman Tom Pitchley (London, England) was recognized with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll mention for his number one doubles win (W, 7-5) – with partner, junior Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) – in Tuesday’s 7-0 loss to #44 Concordia College (NY). Pitchley also competed to a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) loss at number one singles.
Returning to CACC play, Chestnut Hill College (11-4, 2-1) hosted Concordia College (NY) in a league match on Tuesday, March 26. Unfortunately, only Jorsal and Pitchley tasted victory as their 7-5 triumph at number one doubles was not enough to knock the Clippers off course in a 7-0 final.
Concordia College (9-3, 4-0) managed to secure the doubles point before Jorsal and Pitchley’s win at number one doubles with consecutive victories at number three (6-1) and number two (6-1) doubles. In singles play, the Clippers clinched their win over Chestnut Hill College (10-4, 1-1) with points in the third (6-0, 6-1), fourth (6-2, 6-4), and fifth (6-4, 6-4) flights. Eventually, the visitors swept the round with additional individual wins at number two (6-3, 3-6, 6-0), number six (6-3, 3-6, 6-4), and number one (3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4)) singles.
