Dachowski, Jones, and Rees Rewarded For Performances In CACC Wins Over Golden Falcons and Chargers
 
New Haven, Conn. - (4/16/2019) –
Chestnut Hill College opened their 2019 league schedule with a pair of wins over Felician University (W, 22-1 on April 10) and Dominican College (W, 15-12 on April 13). Headlining those triumphant efforts, senior defenseman Christopher Dachowski (Sellersville, Pa.), freshman goalkeeper Austin Jones (Courtice, Ontario), and sophomore attack Carson Rees (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) were respectively honored as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, Goalkeeper of the Week, and a Weekly Honor Roll mention. Dachowski earned his second CACC Defensive Player of the Week award with 10 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Jones captured his third Goalkeeper of the Week honor, earning a pair of wins by holding the Griffins’ opponents to 13 goals over 101:31 minutes in net. He totaled 23 saves on 7.68 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .639 save percentage. Meanwhile, Rees led the Scarlet and Gold offense with eight goals and two assists; he also provided five ground balls and caused three turnovers.
 
Chestnut Hill College (7-4, 2-0) overpowered Felician University (0-9, 0-1) in Wednesday (April 10) night’s CACC contest at the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium as they followed the Golden Falcons’ initial tally (1-0, 13:34) with 22 unanswered goals; 22-1. Rees headlined a host of Griffins who enjoyed multiple-point performances with his five goals and two assists. Sophomore attack J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) (1 goal, 5 assists), senior attack Casey Brown (Havre de Grace, Md.) (4, 2), and senior midfielder Troy Ellers (Wantagh, N.Y.) (3, 3) recorded six points apiece in the victory. Dachowski finished with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Jones made six saves and recovered two ground balls in the victory (6-3).
 
Saturday’s (April 13) CACC contest was decided in the final 15 minutes as Chestnut Hill College built upon an 11-10 lead with a 4-2 fourth-quarter spread that pushed them out of Dominican College's (2-8, 1-1) reach in an eventual 15-12 final. Sophomore midfielder Ben Revak (Aston, Pa.) netted a goal at the end of the third quarter (0:35) to give the Griffins the lead for good. Junior attack Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) was the Griffins' top performer with four goals, an assist, and a pair of ground balls. Rees finished the affair with three goals and two ground balls, Dachowski offered three ground balls and a caused turnover, while Jones earned his seventh win (7-3) of the season with 17 saves and three ground balls.
