Wilmington, DE – (10/13/2011) – Chestnut Hill College defeated Goldey-Beacom College for the second time in a week, completing the season sweep of their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division rival with this evening's 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 8-25, 15-11) victory. th double-double of the season.
Following a 25-8 loss in the fourth set, Chestnut Hill College (10-14, 5-7) had to refocus on foreign soil. A .364 (10K-2E-22TA) team hitting percentage was proof that they did, as the Griffins claimed victory over Goldey-Beacom College (10-11, 5-7) with a 15-11 win in the deciding set. DePalma totaled 15 kills, two aces, 17 digs, and a block to provide 17.5 points. She was supported by 11 kills from freshman right side
Katie Schock (Allentown, PA) and 35 assists from freshman setter
Sidney Chukuntarod (San Francisco, CA), who also made 11 digs and two blocks on defense. Junior middle hitter
Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA) also helped on both sides of the net as well with seven kills and six blocks. Junior libero
Liz DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA) made 20 digs and sophomore defensive specialist
Sarah Mattaliano (Coral Springs, FL) hustled to 12 digs.
Freshman outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown, PA) was the Lightning's leading performer with 15 kills, four aces, 18 digs, and a block. Senior middle hitter Rebecca Stoffer (Middletown, DE) was a solid contributor as well, with 13 kills, 18 digs, and two blocks. Junior setter Monica Dempsey (Secaucus, NJ) provided 42 assists, four aces, and three blocks.
The women's volleyball team will head to Felician College for their next CACC match; a 1:00 p.m. opening serve is scheduled for Saturday, October 15.
