Caldwell, NJ – (11/8/2011) – As the #4 seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division, Chestnut Hill College crossed over to face the North Division #1, Caldwell College in this evening's Opening Round match. The Griffins appearance in postseason play was brief as the Cougars claimed a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-8) win. Freshman setter Sidney Chukuntarod (San Francisco, CA) supplied 20 assists, but it was not enough to fuel the Griffins to victory.
 
Caldwell College (24-4) was driven by junior outside hitter Susan McDonough (Saline, MI) who outperformed all participants with 16 kills, 13 digs, and three blocks. Her .609 (16K-2E-23TA) hitting percentage led a .376 (41K-9E-85TA) Cougar effort and led the home team to set wins of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-8, respectively. Senior setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH) offered 38 assists.
 
Chestnut Hill College (13-19) hit .226 (12K-5E-31TA) in the opening set and three Griffins finished with at least five kills off Chukuntarod's feed. Junior middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA) led the Griffins with seven kills. Sophomore outside hitter Alex DePalma (Shillington, PA) recorded four kills, an ace, and nine digs. Junior libero Liz DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA) hustled to nine digs.
 
The women's volleyball team finishes the 2011 season with a 13-19 record, the program's best standing since joining the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II in 2007.
