Box Score
Myrtle Beach, SC – (2/27/2011) – Chestnut Hill College spent their final day at the Northeast Challenge engaged in a tightly-played, pitchers' duel with Stonehill College. Senior pitcher Ryan Weber (Philadelphia, PA) and junior pitcher Michael White (Lisbon, NH) went pitch-for-pitch through seven innings, but the Skyhawks forced the Griffins to bullpen first and capitalized on the opportunity with two, eighth-inning scores. The Griffins could not answer, falling 2-0 in their final game at the Ripken Experience.

In the first, seven innings, Weber limited Stonehill College (3-2) to four base runners while White allowed only two Griffins aboard. The pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts in that time, neither team scoring a run. Chestnut Hill College (1-3) turned to the bullpen in the top of the eighth inning. After a lead-off single the Griffins quickly recorded two outs, but back-to-back singles brought home two Skyhawks and set the stage for the contest's final at-bats. The Griffins added the drama with two ninth-inning singles. Junior left fielder Alex Latchum (Warrington, PA) and junior second baseman Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) each recorded two-out singles, but the Griffins failed to extend the ninth inning any further with the final out coming on a liner to the Skyhawk shortstop.

White earned the win and finished with ten strikeouts while only allowing one hit in his eight innings of work for the Skyhawks. In the losing effort, Weber allowed three hits and a walk while striking out seven over seven innings. Atop the Griffins lineup, Latchum, Daywalt, and senior right fielder Dan Etherton (Princeton, NJ) each recorded a hit.

The baseball team returns home to host Philadelphia University in a 3:00 p.m., non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, March 2. The Griffins will be opening their new home facility, Latshaw-McCarthy Field in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
