Box Score
Norristown, PA – (4/4/2011) – Nothing seemed to faze junior Dylan Porter (Pasadena, MD) as the West Chester University pitcher lasted through nine innings and three lighting delays to defeat Chestnut Hill College 5-1 this evening. Senior first baseman Mike Knipe (Sellersville, PA) was the only batter to give Porter trouble, recording three of the Griffins four hits.

When all was said and done the non-conference contest endured three delays; Porter sustained to carry West Chester University (14-14) to the win. Chestnut Hill College (8-13) scored their first run on Knipe only at-bat without a hit, as he scored junior left fielder Alex Latchum (Warrington, PA) with a grounder to third base in the sixth inning, 4-1. The Griffins had their best opportunity to tie the affair in their final at-bat. Knipe started off the bottom of the ninth inning with a single to shortstop and a one-out double from senior right fielder George Kochu (Pottstown, PA) put the runners in scoring position. Unfortunately, Porter allowed the game to go no further with a strike out and a liner to his third baseman, freshman Chris Pula (Columbus, NJ) ending the contest.

Junior left fielder Jack Provine (Lincroft, NJ) led the Golden Ram offense with three hits while Porter earned the win. He struck out seven while only allowing four hits, a walk, and an unearned run.

Five Griffins took the mound. Sophomore pitcher John Bernhardt (Lafayette Hill, PA) had the most success working the final three innings of the affair. He struck out one while allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk.

The baseball team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Wednesday, April 6, when they host the University of the Sciences in a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader.
