In a shuffling of the lineup, senior second baseman
Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) led off the Chestnut Hill College (18-18 first inning with a walk. After a sacrifice bunt and a stolen base, he would score from third base on a single to left field from senior left fielder
Alex Latchum (Warrington, PA), 1-0. A strikeout later, Puskar singled to right field to score the Griffins second run of the opening at-bat, 2-0. USciences (9-18) got one run back in the bottom of the frame with a sacrifice fly, 2-1. A three-run Griffin third inning would make the spread 5-1, as a pair of two-out beam balls came back to haunt the Devils bullpen. The Devils bats put one run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning, but a one-out walk to sophomore center fielder
Desmond Lites (Philadelphia, PA), a Latchum single to left field, and a Devils error allowed the first of three Griffin runs to score in the sixth inning, 8-2. From there each side added some late runs, the Devils with two in the eighth inning, 8-4, and the Griffins getting one run in the ninth inning on the effort of senior
Andrew Koziol (Wilmington, DE), 9-4.
Puskar went 4-for-5 with two runs-batted-in (RBI), platting his second teammate with a two-out triple in the three-run Griffin sixth inning. Junior catcher
Timothy DiMonte (Downingtown, PA) offered three hits (3-for-3) and an RBI, while Koziol and Latchum both recoded two hits in the affair. Koziol knocked in two runs with a two-out single during the Griffins three-run third inning. Flack earned the win (2-2) for the Griffins. He allowed one earned run on five hits while striking out two over five innings.
The baseball team resumes Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with a 12:00 p.m. home doubleheader against Caldwell College on Saturday, April 21.
