4/28/2012 9:58:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Norristown, PA – (4/28/2012) – In today's final regular season games, Chestnut Hill College fell to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rivals the Felician College 8-6 and 6-5. The Griffins appeared to have both games won, but the Golden Falcon offense came alive just when they needed it. Senior right fielder Eric Blood (Perkasie, PA) led the Griffins in game one with two hits and two runs-batted-in (RBI). In game two, three other Griffins recorded an RBI apiece.

After a relatively quiet two and a half innings, Chestnut Hill College (19-23, 5-15) scored three runs in the third inning to take a quick lead starting with senior Jesse Daywalt (Phoenixville, PA) knocking in an RBI, and followed by Timothy DiMonte (Downingtown, PA) scoring on a wild pitch, and Blood later scored on a fielding error by Felician College (24-20, 15-4). But in the forth innging the Falcons responded with a solo shot homerun from junior right fielder Joe Petosa (Spotswood, NJ). The Griffins did not go down without a fight, they retaliated in the forth inning with a two-run Blood double to right center, and Andrew Koziol (Wilmington, DE), who hit a single to left field and scored one. The Falcons then slowly crept into the lead by scoring one run in the fifth, two in the sixth, and finally three in the seventh to put them up 8-6. Unfortunately, the Griffins bats went silent after the fifth inning, only recording three hits in the final four frames.

In the second game of today's doubleheader,  the Golden Falcon's only needed one big inning to stop the Griffins slow run production. Senior pitcher Dan Morgan (Upper Darby, PA) recorded the first out of the of affiar in a honorable gesture to the injured senior pitcher. After a quick pitching change, the game went on quickly and quietly until the forth inning when senior left fielder Alex Latchum (Warrington, PA), plated a run in the forth inning. In the fifth the Golden Falcons managed to find a chink in the Griffins armor, scoring six runs. The Griffins responded in the sixth on the efforts of freshman third baseman Taylor Steen (New Egypt, NJ), and feshman Anthony McQuade (Lindenhurst, NY). The Griffins managed to threaten the opposition one final time in the eighth inning where they managed to score two runs, Joe Mullin (Warrington, PA)  was hit by a pitch and brought in a run while Ray Puskar (Green Lane, PA) brought in a run by hitting into a fielder's choice making the score 6-5. With runners at first and third and two outs, the Griffins had one  last chance to tie up the game. Unfortunately a deep fly ball was caught by the Golden Falcon right fielder to end the Griffins rally.

The Griffins finish there season with a 19-23 overall record and 5-15 CACC standing. Prior to today's contests the Chestnut Hill College Athletic Department paid tribute to the baseball team's senior class; Daywalt, Blood, Koziol, Latchum, Morgan, catcher Jordan McComb (Hillsdale, NY), pitcher Jack McGinley (Blue Bell, PA) , and pitcher John Flack (Upper Holland, PA).
