Philadelphia, Pa. – (10/5/2013) – Continuing a run through their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team scored another league win with today's 9-0 triumph at the University of the Sciences' (USciences) McNeil Field Courts. The Griffins earned the advantage with a sweep of doubles play before claiming their fifth CACC win via the shutout.
Chestnut Hill College (9-1, 7-0) took their first two points from USciences (2-7, 2-4) at number one and number two doubles. The Griffins won them both by 8-0 finals with junior
Charlotte Dawson (Odessa, Texas) and freshman
Marie Deleval (Grimaud, France) teaming in the top team flight and senior
Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) pairing in the number two doubles matchup. Junior
Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) and sophomore
Hayley Craskey (Aston, Pa.) completed doubles sweep with an 8-2 win in the third flight.
The Griffins dispatched the Devils just as easily in singles play. Dawson topped the Griffin lineup with her 6-3, 6-0 win at number one singles. Williams-Mulesa claimed the second individual flight 6-0, 6-0. Delevel won number three singles by the same final, 6-0, 6-0; while Dennis was delayed only one point further in her 6-0, 6-1 win at number four singles. Oechsle earned the point at number five singles in an 8-0 pro-set victory and sophomore
Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) the point at number six singles, 5-0 after retirement.
The women's tennis team returns home to break from their CACC schedule with a 10:00 a.m. match against Slippery Rock University, tomorrow, Sunday, October 6.
