Men’s Tennis Drops First CACC Match at #10 Concordia College (NY)

Bronxville, N.Y. – (4/10/2013) – In a match-up of undefeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rivals, #10 Concordia College (NY) came away the victor, 9-0, over Chestnut Hill College this afternoon. The Griffins gave their best showing at number four singles, where sophomore Steven Say (Cannes, France) forced senior David Tisserand (Lyon, France) to a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 final.
 
Concordia College (NY) (11-2, 4-0) controlled doubles play winning 8-0 at number one, 8-1 at number two, and 8-1 at number three to carry a 3-0 lead into singles play. Atop the Chestnut Hill College (14-6, 4-1) lineup, sophomore Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) challenged #10 senior Andrey Boldarev (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) to a 6-0, 6-0 loss at number one singles while junior Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) lost number two singles to #14 junior Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) by the same final, 6-0, 6-0. Say gave the Griffins best performance in the fourth flight, but the Clippers took all the remaining singles matches to complete the shutout.
 
The men's tennis team finishes their 2012-2013 CACC schedule with a 12:00 p.m. home match against Bloomfield College on Saturday, April 13.
