Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/2/2013) – Chestnut Hill College returned to Latshaw-McCarthy Field to welcome #22 Wilmington University for a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contests. The Wildcats pounded their way to a 16-2 victory in the opener and outscored the Griffins before pitching took over game two, 6-2. Senior third baseman Raymond Puskar (Green Lane, Pa.) went 3-for-3 with a run-batted-in (RBI) in the nightcap and recorded a hit in the opener.

Through four innings, Wilmington University (22-9, 11-1) only held a 4-2 lead on Chestnut Hill College (9-14, 2-4), who stayed close with a first-inning RBI double from freshman designated hitter Brendan Looby (Sewell, N.J.), 3-1, and a fourth-inning RBI single from senior shortstop Joseph Crane (Churchville, Pa.), 4-2. Unfortunately, the Wildcats kept hitting as the innings wore on. They extended their lead to 7-2 with three runs in the fifth inning, then added four runs in the sixth inning, 11-2, three in the seventh inning, 14-2, and two more in the ninth frame for the 16-2 win. Looby was 2-for-4. Puskar and Crane accounted for the other two Griffins hits off sophomore pitcher Ray Gambone (King of Prussia, Pa.), who collected the win (5-1) by allowing two runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out seven.

Freshman pitcher Zachary Crim (Horsham, Pa.) slowed the Wildcats at the start of game two, allowing one Wildcat run in the top of the first frame, 1-0. Meanwhile, after a lead-off single, sophomore right fielder Michael McLaughlin (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored on a first-inning Puskar double that tied the contest at 1-1. Crim limited the Wildcats to a run in the second inning, 2-1, and a run in the third inning, 3-1, before finally giving way in the fourth inning, 6-1. The Griffins got one run back with a fifth-inning Lobby grounder to third base, 6-2, but that would be the last run to score in the affair. Puskar walked and singled twice after his first-inning double. McLaughlin was 2-for-4 and scored both Griffin runs. In relief, graduate Micah Winterstein (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Crane combined for five inning of scoreless baseball.

The baseball team briefly breaks from their CACC schedule to play at the University of the Sciences in a 3:00 p.m. non-conference on Thursday, April 4.
