Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Suffern, N.Y. – (4/7/2013) – Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play continued today for Chestnut Hill College baseball as the Griffins visited Dominican College for an afternoon doubleheader. The Chargers outslugged the Griffins in the opener, 11-6, and came from behind to complete the sweep with a 9-5 victory in game two. Freshman designated hitter Brendan Looby (Sewell, N.J.) continued to connect in the middle of the Griffins lineup, going 4-for-9 with two runs and two runs-batted-in (RBI) in the league twin bill.

Dominican College (13-10, 8-2) seized the early advantage in the opener, scoring a run on three singles in the bottom of the first inning, 1-0. They scored another run in the bottom of the fourth inning with a one-out double and a two-out single facilitating the 2-0 Charger lead. Chestnut Hill College (11-17, 4-6) briefly took the lead in the top of the fifth inning with senior shortstop Joseph Crane (Churchville, Pa.) leading off the frame with a single through the left side and creating a run when back-to-back fielder's choices left runners on first and second for a two-out, run-scoring double from senior catcher Timothy DiMonte (Downingtown, Pa.), 2-2. Sophomore right fielder Michael McLaughlin (Philadelphia, Pa.) added another two-out double to make it 3-2 Griffins, but with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, and two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning the Charger outpaced three Griffin tallies to an 11-6 final. Looby led the Griffins with three hits (3-for-5), a run, and two RBI.

The Griffins looked for revenge and a split in game two with a third-inning, two-out single from senior left fielder Joseph Mullin (Warrington, Pa.) giving the Griffins a 3-1 advantage before the Chargers got one run back in the bottom of the frame, 3-2, tied the contest in the fourth inning, 3-3, and outscored the Griffins 6-2 the rest of the way, 9-5. DiMonte and McLaughlin were responsible for the other two Griffin runs, each recording sixth-inning doubles to briefly tie game two at 5-5 before the Chargers scored the final four runs.

The baseball team continues their CACC schedule at Concordia College (NY) on Wednesday, April 10, with a 1:30 p.m. doubleheader.
