Women’s Tennis Tops Tigers for Third CACC Win

Philadelphia, Pa. – (9/24/2013) – Fresh off individual play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional, the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team resumed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with today's match at Holy Family University. The Griffins continued their perfect season by sweeping all matches in a 9-0 final.
 
Chestnut Hill College (4-0, 3-0) opened play at the Torresdale Frankford Country Club with a trio of victories in the doubles round. They came in reverse order as sophomore Hayley Craskey (Aston, Pa.) and junior Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) won number three doubles 8-1. Senior Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) took the second flight 8-3. And not long after that junior Charlotte Dawson (Odessa, Texas) and freshman Marie Deleval (Grimaud, France) claimed number one doubles 8-4.
 
The Griffins stole the show in singles as well, winning the top three in straight sets and the bottom three in pro-sets. In the top three singles flights, Dawson was the victor at number one singles 6-4, 6-1 win, Williams-Mulesa claimed number two singles 6-0, 6-2, and Deleval won number three singles 6-3, 6-0. At number four singles, Dennis was victorious 8-1. Sophomore Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) won number three doubles by the same final, 8-1; while Oechsle took number five singles 8-2.
 
The women's tennis team plays their next CACC contest at home on Friday, September 27, when they host Post University in a 2:00 p.m. match.
