Philadelphia, Pa. – (9/25/2013) – With today's 9-0 victory over Philadelphia University the Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team improved to 2-0 on their fall schedule. The Griffins made quick work of the Rams, winning all three doubles matches before completing the sweep with six straight singles wins.
Senior
Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) and junior
Steven Say (Cannes, France) opened the scoring, earning the first point for Chestnut Hill College (2-0) at number one doubles, 8-1. The second team flight finished next with freshmen
Mariano Porter (Cuemacava, Mexico) and
Pedro Oranges (Sao Paulo, Brazil) earning an 8-2 win over their Philadelphia University (0-1) adversaries. Sophomore
Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) and junior
Devin Hampton (Midland, Texas) completed the round with an 8-4 win at number three doubles.
Singles play went just as smoothly for the Griffins. Running down the individual lineup; Porter won number one singles 6-1, 6-0, Pham took the number two singles 6-1, 6-0,
Anthony Moore (Williamstown, N.J.) claimed the third singles flight 6-2, 6-0,
Michael Humes (Mt. Laurel, N.J) was victorious 6-2, 6-3 at number four singles, Taylor seized number five singles 6-1, 6-0, and Say secured a 6-2, 6-0 win at number six singles 6-2, 6-0.
The men's tennis team competes next with the women at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) on Sunday, September 29. Opening serve is schedule for 11:00 a.m.
