Griffins Continue Run Through CACC Opponents with Triumph over Cougars

Philadelphia, Pa. – (9/28/2013) – For the second straight day and third straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Chestnut Hill College claimed a victory with a 9-0 final, today dismissing Caldwell College in a little more than an hour and half. The Griffins swept doubles with wins of 8-4, 8-0, and 8-1, before taking each singles flight in straight sets.
 
Chestnut Hill College (6-0, 5-0) gained the early advantage with a sweep of doubles play. The Griffins first point came at number two doubles where senior Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio) and sophomore Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) defeated Caldwell College (1-5, 1-3) 8-0. Junior Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) and sophomore Hayley Craskey (Aston, Pa.) were next to secure a win, taking the third team flight 8-1. At number one doubles, junior Charlotte Dawson (Odessa, Texas) and freshman Marie Deleval (Grimaud, France) won the round final point with an 8-4 final.
 
In singles play, Dawson and Deleval led off the Griffin lineup with straight set wins of 6-0, 6-0, and 6-1, 6-1, respectively. Oechsle won number three singles 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) took the fourth individual flight 6-1, 6-0. Craskey claimed number five singles without surrendering a point 6-0, 6-0. Senior Olivia Stevenson (Philadelphia, N.Y.) completed the shutout, winning number six singles by the same score.
 
The women's tennis team breaks from their CACC schedule tomorrow, Sunday, September 29, to travel to the New York Institute of Technology for an 11:00 a.m. match.
