Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Pomona, N.Y. – (4/19/2014) – Nyack College did what no one has done since early March, as the Warriors beat junior pitcher Dominic Raia III (Philadelphia, Pa.) in a 13-2 final before a two-run homerun from sophomore left fielder Brendan Looby (Sewell, N.J.) ignited a five-run first inning and a 10-2 Griffin triumph in game two. Junior shortstop Preston Koehler (Bath, Pa.) recorded four hits (4-for-9) in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader.

Nyack College (18-14, 10-3) scored in their first six at-bats of the afternoon while Chestnut Hill College (14-15, 10-6) only managed to get a run across in the fourth inning. That was when sophomore first baseman Patrick Campion (Norristown, Pa.) scampered home on after reaching on an error by the Warrior second baseman, advancing to second base on a wild pitch, and to third base on a single from sophomore catcher Robert Slagle III (Lafayette Hill, Pa.), before crossing home on a double play, 6-1. But the Warriors matched that run in the bottom of the frame, 7-1, and outscored the Griffins 6-1 the rest of the way, 13-2.

Seeking revenge, senior second baseman Mark Woltemate (Philadelphia, Pa.) led-off the second game with a single. After a sacrifice, Looby's homerun gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead. Then, Slagle singled, junior right fielder Michael McLaughlin (Philadelphia, Pa.) reached on an error, Campion singled in a run, senior centerfielder Desmond Lites (Philadelphia, Pa.) singled in a run, and Koehler singled in a run to make the spread 5-0. Over the next eight frames, the Griffins took advantage of numerous Warrior errors to outscore the home team 5-2 for an eight-run inning, 10-2. Sophomore pitcher Zachary Crim earned the win (3-3), allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out one.

The baseball team breaks from their CACC schedule to visit Kutztown University for a 3:00 p.m. game on Tuesday, April 22.
