Chestnut Hill College (5-6, 2-1) took an early lead in the opening set and after four kills apiece from McBride and Biro, and a strong supporting effort from senior right side
Kaitlin Schock (Allentown, Pa.), two kills and two blocks, the Griffins paced Goldey-Beacom College (5-5, 2-1) in a 25-23 win. In the second set it was the Lightning who set the tempo, leading the Griffins 16-14 before the home team set Sorgenti Arena in to a frenzy with an 11-5 run to victory, 25-19. The final set followed a similar path with the Lightning leading, 22-15, until the Griffins united on an 11-2 run that was highlighted by four kills from freshman middle hitter
Melissa Shunk (Laguna Niguel, Calif.).
Senior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown, Pa.) led the Lightning with 15 kills and nine digs. She was supported by junior setter Danielle Cipolletti (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who offered 25 assists and joined a pair of double-digit diggers in junior defensive specialist Mackenzie Wilson (Wilmington, Del.), 12 digs, and graduate libero Niki Receveur (Wilmington, Del.), 18 digs, with 16 digs of her own.
Biro totaled 13 kills on a .171 (13K-7E-35TA) hitting percentage while McBride was more efficient with her 11 kills, scoring them on a .237 (11K-2E-38TA) average. Junior setter
