Griffins Serve As #2 Seed, Opposite Rams In Upcoming CACC Championship Tournament

New Haven, Conn. - (4/22/2016) – Announced earlier this week by league commissioner Dan Mara, Chestnut Hill College will serve as the #2 seed in the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Championship Tournament, which is to be held at the Griffins' home courts this Saturday and Sunday, April 22 and 23. The Scarlet and Gold will face #3 Philadelphia University in the 1:00 p.m. Semifinal finale, following a 10:00 a.m. matchup between #1 Concordia College (NY) and #4 the University of the Sciences (USciences).

Six-time reining CACC Champion, #1 Concordia College finished the regular season at 10-4 overall record, 6-0 in league play, and #15 in most recent edition of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Rankings (3/26/2016). The Clippers are led this year by newly announced CACC Player of the Year, senior Rafael Ferreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil). While USciences will challenge the Clippers behind All-CACC First Team performer junior Jake Sosonkin (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who led the Rams to an 8-13 overall record and a 3-3 conference standing.
 
The Griffins' semifinal opponent, Philadelphia University finished the regular season at 10-10 overall and 4-2 in the CACC play. The Rams secured their position 5-4 league victory over USciences on Tuesday, April 19. They offer two All-CACC Second Team performers in senior Celso de Vera Rehberger (Oviedo, Spain) and freshman Luis Molina Megias (Gran Canaria, Spain). Chestnut Hill College hosted the Rams twice this year, winning an October 13, 2015, meeting 7-1 before sweeping their cross-city rivals by a 7-2 margin in their conference match up on April 6, 2016. The Griffins placed two competitors on the All-CACC First Team in CACC Rookie of the Year freshman Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) and returning honoree, sophomore Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil). Kohler (#2) and Bocaletto (#15) both ranked among the ITA East Region's singles competitors. As the ITA East Region #2 individual, Kohler is currently 17-2 (.895) in singles play. In doubles, he found success with partner, sophomore Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) over 62% (15-9, .625) of the time. The duo is currently 12-7 in dual match play and has ranked as high as the #3 team in the ITA East Region this year. Bocaletto is a 7-11 (.389) in singles play (6-9 @ #1) and ranked #15 in the same ITA poll. He and his doubles partner Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil), earned a #8 position.
