Box Score 1 Wappingers Falls, N.Y. - (3/28/2017) – Despite relocating today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader to Dutchess Stadium – home of the Hudson Valley Renegades – in Wappingers Falls, New York, Chestnut Hill College and host, Bloomfield College were only able to get through one game as rains suspended the second contest in the top of the second inning. Behind a stellar performance from junior Andrew Sibson (Galloway, N.J.), the Griffins kept the Bears in check until their final at-bat. By that time, a first-inning ground out from junior first baseman Matthew Owens (Cherry Hill, N.J.), 1-0, a third-inning sacrifice fly from senior left fielder Brandon DiBona (Southampton, Pa.), 2-0, and a fourth-inning Bloomfield College error ushered Chestnut Hill College to a 3-1 league win.

Chestnut Hill College (6-7-1, 2-1) led off the affair with a pair of walks as junior shortstop Alec Craig (Hammonton, N.J.) and DiBona were issued passes and moved into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt from sophomore catcher Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.), before an Owens grounder to short pushed the first Griffin run home, 1-0. The Scarlet and Gold added to their lead over Bloomfield College (6-7, 2-1) in the third inning, using back-to-back singles from freshman centerfielder Justin McFadden (Galloway, N.J.) and Craig to score on DiBona's sacrifice fly to right field, 2-0. An inning later, in the fourth, an Owens lead-off double was misplayed by the Bear centerfielder, allowing the Griffin first baseman to advance to third base and score a second insurance run, 3-0.

Meanwhile Sibson cruised through seven innings (7.0) of work, holding Bloomfield College to three hits and four walks, while striking out five. He was relieved in the bottom of the eighth inning by sophomore Dino Cattai (Philadelphia, Pa.), who collected his first save of the season despite allowing the Bears to score in their final at-bat. He struck out three.

Owens continues to carry a hot bat for Chestnut Hill College, picking up two hits (2-for-4) to raise his season average to .277 (13-for-47) – he is now 8-for-15 (.533) in his last four contests. McFadden also recorded two hits (2-for-3) while Craig, sophomore designated hitter Eric Small (Downingtown, Pa.), and senior third baseman Austin DiBonaventure (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) were responsible for the other three Griffin hits.

Chestnut Hill College returns to Latshaw-McCarthy Field tomorrow, Wednesday, March 29, for a 3:00 p.m. CACC doubleheader versus Wilmington University. Please check GriffinAthletics.com for future schedule updates.
