Chestnut Hill College Bats Bring Wins over Wilkes University, 10-3, and Florida Memorial University, 10-9

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 West Palm Beach, Fla. - (3/7/2017) – A high-scoring affair versus Florida Memorial University was tied 6-6 after just four innings of play. Chestnut Hill College took the pole position with a four-run seventh inning that ushered them to an eventual 10-9 win over the Lions. Finding their swing, the Griffins also scored in 10 runs in their 10-3 victory over Wilkes University on Sunday, March 5.
 
Chestnut Hill College (1-1) led Wilkes University (3-3) 9-0 heading to the seventh inning of that 10-3 final. Senior left fielder Brandon DiBona (Southampton, Pa.) (2-for-3) and sophomore center fielder Vincent Case (Southampton, Pa.) (2-for-3) both recorded two hits against Wilkes University, while junior shortstop Alec Craig (Hammonton, N.J.) scored three times and junior Matthew Kress (Lansdale, Pa.) earned the win (1-0) with a dominate six innings (6.0IP, 2H, 3BB, 9K) on the hill.
 
Craig was 4-for-4 against the Florida Memorial University pitching staff, scoring three times and knocking in two runs with a walk, three singles, and a double. Sophomore catcher Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.) and senior third baseman Austin DiBonaventure (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) both went 2-for-3 and scored two runs; the former also drew two walks, while the latter walked once and knocked in two runs in the four-run Chestnut Hill College (2-1) seventh-inning that provided the necessary insurance in yesterday's 10-9 triumph.
 
Chestnut Hill College continues their spring trip competition today, Tuesday, March 7, with a 6:00 p.m. contest at Barry University.
