Chestnut Hill College Drops Tennis Doubleheader, 9-0 and 7-2, To Nationally Ranked Queens College

Men's Box Score | Women's Box Score | Queens, N.Y. - (4/1/2017) – The Griffins' tough spring schedule continued today, Saturday, April 1, with a pair of matches at Queens College. The Chestnut Hill College men's and women's tennis teams fought valiantly, but lost their respective ends of the twin bill to the Knights - who currently offer the nation's #47 men's team and #44 women's team – 7-2 and 9-0. The Scarlet and Gold won their only two points of the afternoon in the men's number one doubles, 8-6, and men's number one singles, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, flights.  
 
Sophomore Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) had a hand in both of the Chestnut Hill College (5-5) points in the men's match, combining with senior Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) for the 8-6 win at number one doubles and scoring the 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, comeback win at number one singles. Unfortunately, Queens College (7-4) answered Kohler and Ducretot's doubles win with consecutive wins at number two doubles, 8-5, number three doubles, 8-3, before securing the win with singles success at number four singles, 6-3, 6-1, number six singles, 6-2, 6-3, and number five singles, 7-5, 6-1. Kohler's singles point came after the clincher, interrupting the Knights' run to a 7-2 win.
 
Senior Laure-Anne Josso (Vannes, France) and Louise Charley (Vannes, France) offered Chestnut Hill College's (0-13) strongest resistance in the women's match. They combined to hold Queens College to an 8-2 win at number one doubles. As individuals, they respectively battled to 7-6, 6-1, and 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, losses at number one and number two singles.
 
The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team will join the men on Friday, April 7, for a 2:00 p.m. match at Millersville University. But before that, the men will begin their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule tomorrow, Sunday, April 2, with a 12:00 p.m. match at Bloomfield College.
