Box Score 2 Hockessin, Del. - (4/21/2017) – Today's non-conference doubleheader at Goldey-Beacom College featured a pair of competitive contests that both concluded as Lightning wins; 4-3 and 2-1. Chestnut Hill College received two hits apiece from senior right fielder

Zach Szumigala (Fairless Hills, Pa.) (2-for-4) in the opener. The former threw a complete game in the nightcap, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk, while striking out two.
The first game reached the bottom of the sixth inning before a run score. There, Goldey-Beacom College (5-31) used a two-out walk and a hit batsman to score on a double through the left side, 1-0. Chestnut Hill College (17-12-1) retaliated in the top of the seventh inning, where a lead-off single to first base from Monaghan, a balk, a one-out single to left field from Szumigala, a stolen base, a two-out walk to sophomore center fielder
David McBrearty (Sicklerville, N.J.), and a two-run single from junior second baseman
Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) put the Scarlet and Gold ahead, 2-1. The Griffins added to their advantage in the ninth inning. Szumigala led off the frame with a single to center field and stole second base before a sacrifice from freshman catcher
Thomas Spratt (Doylestown, Pa.) moved him to third base. A two-out walk to Isaac added to the drama as a he drew the ire of the Lightning pitcher, distracting him enough to allow Szumigala to score, 3-1. Kyle Hasforth (Midlothian, Va.) offered a quality start, allowing one run on six hits and two walks. He struck out three over the first seven innings.
In game two, Monaghan kept the Lightning scoreless until the fifth inning. Meanwhile, Chestnut Hill College grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning thanks to the play of Szumigala.
