Chestnut Hill College to Serve as #1 Seed, Host for CACC Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament

Philadelphia, PA. - (4/21/2017) – For the fifth consecutive year, Chestnut Hill College will serve as the backdrop for the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Championship Tournament, which is scheduled to begin this Saturday, April 22. With a perfect 5-0 league record, Chestnut Hill College will serve as the #1 seed and will therefore, host #4 Philadelphia University in a 10:00 a.m. semifinal match. #2 Post University and #3 USciences will follow in the 1:00 p.m. semifinal match. The winners of the semifinal matches will meet in the CACC Championship, which is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. start on Sunday, April 23.

First-Year Head Coach, and newly named 2017 BSN Sports/CACC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year, Ryan Gargullo led the Griffins to a 13-5 overall mark and a perfect CACC standing (5-0). His lineup featured four All-CACC performers, including 2017 CACC Men's Tennis Player of the Year sophomore Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France), 2017 CACC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Year freshman Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France); who respectively garnered 2017 All-CACC First Team and All-CACC Second Team status, as well as additional 2017 All-CACC First Team performers sophomore Felix Andre (Berlin, Germany) and senior Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France).
 
Chestnut Hill College (13-5, 5-0) is currently on an eight-match winning streak, helping them to a 10-1 record since returning from their annual Florida spring trip. Among those wins was a 6-3 win over #32 New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) on Friday, March 24, and victories over National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I opponents, La Salle University (W, 8-1 on 3/29) and Villanova University (W, 4-3 on 4/15). In their regular season meeting, on Thursday, April 13, Chestnut Hill College defeated the Rams by an 8-1 final; Philadelphia University's (10-7, 2-3) earned their lone point with a 6-3, 6-0, win at number three singles.
