Chestnut Hill College Losses Pair of CACC Contests to Post University, 3-2 and 1-0

4/30/2017 12:05:00 AM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Norristown, Pa.  - (4/29/2017) – Chestnut Hill College concluded their 2017 regular-season home schedule today, Saturday, April 29, with an afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) twin bill versus Post University. Unfortunately, the Eagles spoiled the annual Senior Day send-off with league-wins of 3-2 and 1-0. Junior left fielder Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) knocked in both of the Griffin runs in game one, while a combination of junior Andrew Sibson (Galloway, N.J.) and senior Dylan Borawski (Hatfield, Pa.) kept Chestnut Hill College in the game-two pitcher's duel.

Post University (18-21-1, 12-8) and Chestnut Hill College (19-18-1, 13-8) each scored a run in the second inning of game one, 1-1. The Eagles looked to separate late with a run in the seventh inning, 2-1, but the Griffins met the challenge in the bottom of the frame with a beaning of sophomore designate hitter Eric Small (Downingtown, Pa.), a stolen base, a walk to senior second baseman Jon Baturgil (Freehold, N.J.), and a sacrifice fly from Isaac, 2-2. But the effort was overshadowed as the Eagles scored the game-winner in the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly of their own, 3-2. Junior Patrick Kelley (Pipersville, Pa.) was solid at the start for Chestnut Hill College; he allowed two runs on nine hits and three walks. He struck out two.

Game two went scoreless for the first three innings. In the top of the fourth inning, a pair of lead-off walks resulted in a one-out, run-scoring single up the middle, 1-0. That would be the only tally in the affair as senior Alex Johnson (Bethel, Conn.) (4-1) held the Griffins to just five hits while striking out five in the complete game effort. Sibson (6-1) allowed one run on one hit and three walks while striking out three in the first three innings. Borawski allowed only one hit and struck out two in the final four frames.

In between contests, the Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics honored the collegiate careers of Borawski, Baturgil, outfielder Christopher Newman (Hammonton, N.J.), catcher Christopher Demey (Phoenixville, Pa.), infielder and relief pitcher Austin DiBonaventure (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.), senior outfielder and pitcher Joseph Monaghan (Doylestown, Pa.), outfielder Brandon DiBona (Southampton, Pa.), pitcher Justin Harnett (Aberdeen, N.J.).
