Box Score Waterbury, Conn. - (5/11/2017) – Junior Patrick Kelley (Pipersville, Pa.) earned his second postseason victory in two starts, stringing together six more innings of stellar mound work in #4 Chestnut Hill College's 13-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championship Double Elimination Round triumph over #8 Philadelphia University. The Scarlet and Gold offense stacked up 17 hits at Municipal Stadium; sophomore catcher Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.) recorded four of them (4-for-5) and contributed to three Griffin scores with two runs and a run-batted-in (RBI). Kelley (5-3) allowed one run on four hits and two walks, while striking out five over six innings of work.
 
Philadelphia University (19-28) manufactured the first run of the affair in the second inning with a lead-off single to left field, a one-out stolen base, and a two-out double to left center, 1-0. The advantage only lasted until the bottom of the third inning, where Chestnut Hill College (22-19-1) scored their first three runs on a pair of one-out singles from senior left fielder Brandon DiBona (Southampton, Pa.) and Gilham, a pair of Ram errors, 2-1, and a two-out single to right field from sophomore designated hitter Eric Small (Downingtown, Pa.), 3-1. The Scarlet and Gold added three more runs in the fourth inning, 6-1, five more runs in the fifth, 11-1, and two more runs in the eighth, 13-1, before the Rams rallied for two runs in their final at-bat, 13-3.
 
Chestnut Hill College was 10-for-19 in the top for spots of the line-up; junior shortstop Alec Craig (Hammonton, N.J.) was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, DiBona was 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI, Gilham's four hits came after that, junior first baseman Matthew Owens (Cherry Hill, N.J.) followed in the clean-up spot with a run and a RBI off a 1-for-4 effort with a walk. Small and senior third baseman Austin DiBonaventure (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) were both 3-for-5; the former scored twice and knocked in a run while the latter scored once and knocked in a run.
 
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC Baseball Championship Double Elimination Round play tomorrow, Friday, May 12, at 12:00 p.m., when they face #6 Dominican College. The loser faces #2 Wilmington University in a 3:00 p.m. contest, while the winner advances to the CACC Championship Round with a game in hand.
